Code of conduct

Last updated: September 24, 2026

Mobile Makers is a day made by and for the community. We want every person, attendee, speaker, sponsor or volunteer, to feel safe and welcome, regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, appearance, body size, origin, age, religion or level of experience.

In one sentence

Be respectful and kind. Harassment of any kind is not tolerated. Anyone breaking these rules may be expelled from the event without a refund, at the organisers' discretion.

What we expect

  • Show up as yourself and make room for others, in the rooms and in the hallways.
  • Listen before you disagree. Technical disagreement is welcome; personal attacks are not.
  • Use inclusive, welcoming language on stage, during Q&A and on the event's social channels.
  • Ask before taking a close-up photo or recording of someone.
  • Report anything that feels wrong, even if it does not involve you directly.

What is not acceptable

  • Offensive comments or jokes related to gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, appearance, body size, origin, age or religion.
  • Sexual images or content in event spaces, including in talks and slides.
  • Intimidation, threats, stalking or following.
  • Persistent photography or recording after being asked to stop.
  • Sustained disruption of talks or conversations.
  • Unwelcome physical contact or sexual attention.
  • Advocating for or encouraging any of the above.

These rules apply to everyone present, speakers and sponsors included, in the rooms, in the expo area, at the community party and on the event's online channels. Sponsor booths follow the same rules: no sexualised staff or material.

Reporting a problem

If you experience or witness inappropriate behaviour, or have any concern at all, talk to a volunteer (recognisable by their t-shirt) or email contact@mobilemakers.fr. We will listen, we will believe you, and we will act promptly and confidentially.

Depending on the situation, volunteers may restate these rules, ask someone to leave the event, escort them out and, if needed, contact venue security or the police. We can also help you feel safe for the rest of the day: an escort, a change of room, or getting in touch with the people of your choice.
